Privacy Policy for Poof

Poof collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no network code of any kind. Your photos and videos never leave your iPhone by way of this app.
What Poof stores, and where
Photos and videos you take or import are stored inside Poof's own private storage area on your iPhone. They are not added to your Photos library unless you explicitly tap Save on an individual item.
Poof also stores your settings (how long deleted items are kept, whether Face ID is enabled) and a one-way cryptographic hash of your PIN. Your PIN itself is never stored — only a salted hash, kept in the iOS Keychain and marked so that it never syncs to iCloud or to any other device.
What Poof sends
Nothing. Poof contains no networking code. It cannot send your photos, your settings, your PIN, usage statistics, crash reports, or anything else, because it has no means of doing so. Poof works with no internet connection, permanently.
Permissions Poof asks for, and why
- Camera — to take photos and videos inside the app. Required only if you use the built-in camera.
- Microphone — to record audio as part of videos you capture.
- Photo library (add) — used only when you tap Save on an item, to copy that one item into your Photos library.
- Photo library (full) — used only when you import items and choose to have the originals removed from your library afterwards.
- Face ID / Touch ID — used only to unlock the app instead of typing your PIN. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS; Poof only ever receives a yes-or-no answer and never sees your biometric information.
Poof is fully usable if you deny photo library access. Only saving to and importing from your library are affected.
What Poof is not
Poof is not an encrypted vault, and we would rather say so plainly than let you assume otherwise. The PIN prevents someone holding your unlocked phone from opening the app. It is not encryption. Specifically:
- Files stored in Poof are included in your iPhone's backups, including iCloud backups if you use them.
- Deleting the Poof app deletes everything stored inside it.
- Someone with physical access to an unlocked, jailbroken, or forensically imaged device could reach these files.
If you need genuine secrecy for particular material, use a dedicated encrypted app, or keep it in your regular photo library where iOS protections apply.
Children
Poof does not collect data from anyone, including children. It contains no ads, no purchases, and no external links.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top.
