Why are photo sizes shown with a ~?
Because they are estimates, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Apple does not publish exact file sizes to third-party apps. Shuck estimates photos from their pixel dimensions and format, which is accurate enough to rank and total them, but it is not exact — so it says so.
Video sizes have no tilde. Those are measured exactly from the file.
I deleted things but my storage did not go down
That is expected, and it is not Shuck. Deleting a photo on iOS moves it to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where it stays for 30 days so you can change your mind. The space comes back when that album is emptied, or automatically after 30 days.
To get it back now: open Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted → Select → Delete All.
Will this delete photos from my other devices?
If iCloud Photos is switched on, yes — that is how iCloud Photos works for every app, including Apple's own. Shuck warns you about this on the confirmation screen before anything is deleted.
If you would rather it did not, turn off iCloud Photos in Settings before cleaning up.
Shuck says it needs "All Photos" and I gave it limited access
Shuck adds up what your whole library costs. From a partial view that total is simply wrong, and a wrong number is worse than no number — so Shuck asks for full access rather than quietly reporting something misleading.
Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Shuck → All Photos.
What does "similar shots" actually group?
Near-identical frames taken close together in time — bursts, retakes, the eight attempts at the same photo. It deliberately does not group two similar photos taken months apart: those are two memories, not a duplicate.
Favourites are never included, and nothing is ever selected for you.
Is screenshot cleanup really free?
Yes. Unlimited, permanently, with no trial clock. It stays free if you buy a subscription and later cancel it. Someone who paid once should never end up worse off than someone who never did.
How do I cancel or restore a purchase?
Cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. To restore on a new device, open Shuck → Settings → Restore Purchases.
